The 30 hours extended childcare is due to be introduced in September 2017. To qualify for the additional 15 hours, parents will have to be in work, and each earning at least £115 a week and not more than £100,000 each per year. Applications for the additional 15 hours are only via HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), not the Local Authority and can be accessed here…

Types of Childcare


Childminders

Provide full/part time childcare within their own home for all ages up to 18.

Day Nurseries

Provide full/part time childcare in a setting for children aged up to 5 years ALL YEAR ROUND

Pre-schools

Provide part time childcare in a setting for children aged 2-5 years TERM TIME ONLY

Out of school clubs/Holiday playschemes

Provide full/part time childcare in a setting, before, after and during school holidays for children of Primary school age. (Some may cater for younger or older children)

Nannies

Provide full/part time childcare in the child’s own home for children of all ages

Crèche

Provides childcare during the day on an occasional basis while the parent/carer does something else e.g. work, study or shopping, for children of all ages
